You will notice that textures are low quality even on Ultra Setting. And there also was X360 port, that had Quake 2, some achievements and a bad optimisation. There also was Collector Edition which came with Quake 2. And uses Doom 3 engine, so beware of sharp dynamic shadows. It was developed by Raven Software in 2005. Quake 4 is proud exclusion, being a direct sequel to Quake 2, where space marines battle against cyborgs made of steel and human flesh on their planet.
A franchise where no previous games were connected to each other, think of Final Fantasy. Quake 4 is yet another linear old-school'ish FPS in a Quake franchise.
